Great examples of late 30's variety show in Hi-Fi
These two programs are great examples of the variety show format of the late 30s recorded on lacquer discs to near Hi-Fi quality. Comedy routine, dramatic sketch, Rudy's crooning, interview of famous people like Joe DiMaggio. Topical commentary makes it a great 1938 history lesson.
The only severe flaw is that the commercials were edited out. Lore has it that Rudy saw this as a way of saving the recording charge of one disc side; but I've never checked the validity of this.
